Nevertheless, She Persisted: Celebrating Women's History Month

Happy National Women’s History Month! Since 1975, March has been declared Women’s History Month and is used to recognize women’s history in the U.S. Each year, the National Women’s History Project picks a theme, along with honorees, that are celebrated for the entire month. These honorees shed light on prominent women’s movements throughout history.

This year, the theme is NEVERTHELESS SHE PERSISTED: Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. The women honored have been pioneers in women’s history through their achievements in STEM, military, medicine, advocacy and community outreach to name a few. This year, the women being recognized have committed their lives to fighting for equality, equal protection, and anti-discrimination of women.

You can view the biographies of the 2018 honorees to learn about each of their inspiring personal stories and how they’ve used their voice and position to combat intersecting forms of discrimination faced by American women.
